“Is there a Mr. More or a Mr. Skinny here?”

A very common question since Pueblo’s oldest car dealer, More-Skinny Used Cars opened its doors over 65 years ago. The correct spelling of the Italian name “Moreschini” made it difficult for customers to spell and locate the business in the telephone directory so the decision was made to use the more phonetic spelling “More-Skinny”.

Starting with just a few cars, Victor Moreschini and the now deceased, Richard Moreschini began the business on the property of a small service station and grocery store on Pine and Summit in Pueblo. It wasn’t long before the business grew and more space was needed to display a larger selection of vehicles, hence the move to the prominent city block of 13th and Santa Fe where they’ve been ever since.

Second generation sons Greg and his brother Bob are now who you will see there, proudly continuing the legacy started by their father and uncle so many years ago. “Our customers still look to us to provide them with low mileage, dependable and of course, affordable vehicles”, Greg Moreschini said. And it must be true, which explains why more often than not, it is not uncommon to see the brothers scrambling to serve more than one customer at any given time.

Greg and Bob spend several days a week traveling to various automobile auctions instate and out to find those few vehicles that meet their picky standards. “We’ve been looking under and around cars since we were kids…we know what to look for and if we wouldn’t feel comfortable driving it, we wouldn’t expect our customers to drive it either”, said Bob.

Three generations and nearly 20,000 pre-owned vehicles later, Puebloans (especially the children) and customers from as far as New Mexico and Kansas still find enjoyment in visiting the landmark sign of that well-known “skinny” guy, adorned with a bow tie around his neck, red and yellow striped shorts and a moving arm, since to them, it has not only become symbolic of a special place where they are treated like family, but also where they can feel a sense of confidence in knowing that the vehicle that they drive away in is one stamped with 70 years of pride and excellence found only in the “More-Skinny Used Car” name.
